π₯ Public Education Programs
The Zion Fire Rescue Department is proud to offer a variety of public education classes for our citizens β serving both young and old. Each year during Fire Prevention Week, members of the Zion Fire Rescue Department visit schools throughout our area and present engaging fire safety talks to students.
During these visits, we also distribute fire safety materials for students to take home and share with their families. Firefighters instruct students on how to stay safe during a fire emergency, including the STOP – DROP – ROLL method for extinguishing clothing fires.
We encourage students to make sure their homes have working smoke detectors, that batteries are changed regularly, and that families practice E.D.I.T.H. β Exit Drills In The Home β to prepare everyone for quick and safe evacuation.
The Zion Fire Rescue Department also provides fire safety presentations for senior citizens by visiting local nursing homes, senior housing facilities, and senior meetings hosted by the Park District. These talks cover essential topics such as emergency evacuation, maintenance of smoke detectors, and the proper use of fire extinguishers.
Together, we can prevent fires β and protect our community.
