❀️ CPR & AED Training Program

Why Do You Need CPR?

Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), performed promptly and correctly, can help victims survive until advanced medical professionals arrive. Nearly two-thirds of heart attack deaths occur before the victim reaches a hospital β€” but many of these lives could be saved through immediate bystander intervention.

Should You Learn CPR?

Whether you have a loved one with heart disease or simply want to be prepared for emergencies, learning CPR empowers you to make a life-saving difference. Brain death begins within 4–6 minutes after the heart stops, so quick action and calling 911 are critical to survival.

CPR Training at Zion Fire & Rescue

CPR courses are conducted by certified instructors following the American Heart Association (AHA) curriculum and standards. Classes are held at Zion Fire Station 1 and are open to residents, businesses, and healthcare professionals.

Heartsaver AED

The Heartsaver AED course teaches CPR, AED use, and choking relief for adults, children, and infants. It also covers the use of protective barrier devices. Hands-on skills are practiced in a supportive, low-stress environment β€” no written exam is required. Successful participants receive an AHA course completion card.

Heartsaver AED / First Aid

This course expands on the AED class to include basic first aid training. Participants learn to manage illnesses and injuries in the first crucial minutes before professional help arrives. Topics include CPR, AED use, medical emergencies, injury response, and environmental hazards. A completion card is issued upon participation.

BLS for Healthcare Providers

The Basic Life Support (BLS) course is designed for healthcare professionals. It covers adult and pediatric CPR, two-rescuer scenarios, use of a bag-valve mask, airway obstruction management, AED operation, and use of barrier devices. Certification is awarded upon passing written and practical skills exams.

Knowing CPR is one of the most valuable skills you can have β€” it transforms ordinary citizens into first responders and can mean the difference between life and death.
