Zion Fire and Rescue Foreign Fire Insurance Board

The Illinois Foreign Fire Insurance Fund is distributed by the Illinois Municipal League. The League collects insurance taxes from companies outside the state and distributes them to fire departments for needs not otherwise provided by municipalities.

The Board consists of seven trustees: the Fire Chief and six elected sworn members (minimum of one battalion chief, one lieutenant, and three firefighter/paramedics).

Terms

Members serve two-year terms. Department officers are elected in odd years and firefighters/paramedics in even years. Vacancies are filled via special election. Following each regular election, officers select a President, Treasurer, and Secretary.
