Commissioner Richard Frierson

Commissioner of Building & Public Property

Richard Frierson is a native of Lake County, Illinois. He spent many of his formative years living in South Carolina before returning to Waukegan, where he attended and graduated from Waukegan High School in 1997. Since that time, he has built a family and a successful career in the field of Information Technology.

Richard is married and has two children. His wife, Shanta, is also a Waukegan High School graduate, and their children have grown up in the Zion School Districts and now attend Zion-Benton Township High School.

The College of Lake County played an important role in Richard’s education. He received his training for A+ certification there and initially pursued work in computer hardware. However, after discovering a stronger interest in software, he transitioned into programming and development. Taking a non-traditional approach, Richard built his expertise and now works as a Software Engineer.
