Pursuant to Zion Municipal Code Section 34-18 and Illinois Revised Statutes Ch. 108½, Sec. 4-101, the City of Zion established the Firemen’s Pension Board of Trustees. The Board manages all funds belonging to or designated as part of the Firefighters’ Pension Fund and oversees its administration as provided by law.
The Board consists of five members: two appointed by the Mayor, two elected from the active participants of the fund, and one elected from retired firefighters. Trustees serve three-year terms and the Board meets quarterly.
3-Year Term
Two (2) members shall be appointed by the Mayor, two (2) members shall be active participants of the pension fund who are elected by active members, and one (1) member shall be a retiree elected by retired members. Terms are for three years — as provided in Municipal Code Section 34-18 and Illinois Revised Statutes Ch. 108½, par. 3-128 (amended by Ordinance 09-O-9).
