WELCOME NEW RESIDENTS!

 

Welcome to the City of Zion!

With this letter, we'd like to acquaint you with benefits as well as requirements to be met as a resident.

Our Police and Fire/Rescue Departments will respond to emergency calls.
The emergency telephone number for both is 911.

Vehicle Stickers: The City requires vehicle stickersfor all motor vehicles -
cars, trucks, motorcycles, motorbikes, ect. Individuals between the ages 65 and 69
receive one sticker at 1/2 price; anyone 70 years of age or older receives one at no charge.
Please bring the following information with you when you purchase your sticker:
Name, Address, Year - Make - Model Color of vehicle, License Plate number (if available).
You can view a copy of the City Ordinance, detailing vehicle license requirements online.

Dog and Cat Licenses: "The Zion City Council has eliminated animal licensing,
registration and fees through the City of Zion. The Lake County Health Department
still requires pet owners to obtain current rabies tags."

Waste Collection: You will need to sign and return to our office the enclosed Contract
for Water, Sewer, & Waste Collection Service form, which is attached to the City of Zion
Water Service information. Waste collection is $15.00 per month, per kitchen, paid in advance.
It is billed quarterly. A special 90-gallon waste container is available for $50.00
which includes delivery. Inquire at the bill payment counter at City Hall.

Sewer: If you are not connected to the City sewer and the line is available to your property,
it is necessary you do hook in within 6 months from date of annexation. The fee is based
on a front footage charge per foot, plus a tap fee. A call to (847) 746-4019 will answer any
questions you may have or to make arrangements to hook on.

Building Department: Please read the letter from the Director of Building and Zoning containing
additional information for your benefit. Business licenses are also handled from this office.
Addresses are assigned, as well, by our Building Department.

We trust your becoming a resident of Zion will afford you increased police and fire/rescue
protection in addition to receiving many other necessary desired City services.
