Hello and Welcome to the Zion Police Department Web Page!
The purpose of this site is to provide information about our department and to provide a resource for questions you might have. The Zion Police Department is currently authorized at 50 sworn officers. This includes six sergeants, four lieutenants, two deputy chiefs and a chief of police. The department is divided into two divisions, operations and support services.
The Operations Division includes Patrol, Investigations – Juvenile, SWAT, Evidence
Technicians, Accident Investigations, Field Training Officers, Drug and Gang Officers,
and Community Service Officers. The Support Services Division includes a brand new Communications - 911 Call Center, which recently opened in March 2008, along with records and other special projects.
The Zion Police Department has officers assigned to the Lake County Major Crimes
Task Force and the Metropolitan Enforcement Group, and supports multi-jurisdictional efforts.
We strive to be a community oriented police department. Our officers represent the department in many community-based organizations, such as: Exchange Club,
Rotary Club, Coalition For Healthy Communities, Citizens Law Enforcement Advisory Commission (CLEAC), Community and Law Enforcement for Every Senior ( CLUES ), plus a Police Explorers Program. The Zion Police Department encourages community involvement through Neighborhood Watch programs and other events.
The department also has a Chaplain’s Program, staffed by area pastors who volunteer their time to assist the community and members of the department.
