Hello and Welcome to the Zion Police Department Web Page! The purpose of this site is to provide information about our department and to provide a resource for questions you might have. The Zion Police Department is currently authorized at 46 sworn officers. This includes thirty-three patrol officers, eight sergeants, three lieutenants, one deputy chief and a chief of police.

The department’s primary mission includes Patrol, Investigations, and Gang & Narcotics divisions. Officers and Detectives fill a variety of part time specialty assignments, including -Juvenile, SWAT, Evidence Technicians, Accident Investigations, and Field Training Officers. We are members of the Lake County Major Crime task force and currently have one investigator and one evidence technician assigned to the Task Force.

The Support Services Division includes a brand new Communications - 911 Call Center, which recently opened in March 2008. In 2009, the Zion Emergency Services and Disaster Agency (ESDA) became a division of the Police Department. Community Service Officers and Animal Control are also very important elements of the department.

We strive to be a community oriented police department. Our officers represent the department in many community-based organizations, such as: Coalition For Healthy Communities, The Zion Police Department encourages community involvement through Neighborhood Watch programs and other events.

The department also has a Chaplain’s Program, staffed by area pastors who volunteer their time to assist the community and members of the department.

The Zion Police Department is an equal opportunity employer and provides its employees competitive pay and benefits.

Sincerely,
Wayne Brooks
