Headline Developments
- Best Western Inn & Suites at Market Square - 84 room hotel & conference center with 220 seat banquet facility, meeting rooms and 7500 sq feet of retail space, half of which is already leased. Set in the historic center of downtown Zion, construction is set to begin in January with a December 2010 delivery date. Approximately 63 new jobs will result from the $13.5 million project. - Lake County Fielders Baseball Stadium - 8,000 seat minor league baseball park with concourse, suites, banquet facility, year round restaurant and concert venue. Located at the entrance to Trumpet Business Park in Zion, IL, the facility will be owned by the City of Zion and leased to the Fielders, a Northern League team co-owned by Grand Slam Sports & Entertainment, LLC and actor, Kevin Costner. 318 full and part time positions will be created as part of the $15 million project. - Trumpet Industrial Park - A public - private venture between the City of Zion and Panattoni Development, the largest industrial broker in the United States, Phase One involves 250 acres with direct UP rail access, regional detention, CC&R in place, and utilities to sites. Home to Calpine Energy, LaFarge Industries, FedEx and state of the art Minergy operation, the first of its capabilities in the nation. Minutes from international airport, US 41 and I-94, Trumpet Park is represented by Lee & Associates of Chicago. $50 million in private infrastructure and construction investment already completed with anticipation of 3,000 new jobs at build out.

- First Class Sporting Goods and Training Facility - Innovative design allows for 8,600 sq foot retail center with indoor shooting range, training facility and attached cafe. Providing Lake County police and marksman certification courses as well as a public range, the project will generate sales and entertainment tax revenues for the community and approximately 5 new jobs. Construction anticipated for Spring 2010 as part of South Sheridan Road TIF Redevelopment District.
- Martha's Daycare - An expansion of a respected Lake County operation, the downtown center will provide quality childcare and education services for area families. DCFS approved and only steps from historical Shiloh Park, Martha's construction is expected to be complete in January with a February 2010 grand opening. 12 new jobs created.
- Butz Building Restoration - Built in 1940, this classic brick 2-story is at Sheridan Road and 27th in downtown Zion, benefiting from 25000 in daily traffic count. Across from the new Market Square hotel project, the property offers 6,000 sq feet of retail space on main floor and private residences on the upper level. The project will receive a complete mechanical and cosmetic renovation this spring to accommodate Howell Tax Services and My Sister's Cottage, a home furnishings and decor retailer.
