Mr. Frank Flammini, the CIty’s newest Trustee, was elected to serve a four year term. Originally from Chicago, he has lived with his wife, Donna, and four children in Zion for 13 years. Trustee Flammini has worked for ComEd since he left the Navy in 1981. Since turning down a relocation package when the Zion facility closed, he and Donna have committed both their time and resources to community activities. Currently, Donna is serving her 2nd term on the District 6 School Board.
Trustee Flammini’s favorite past time is administering the Christmas in April program. This program networks with area businesses and volunteers who come together to effect home repairs for area seniors who otherwise could not afford to have them done. “The outpouring from the Zion community has been tremendous,” said Trustee Flammini. “Delaine (Rogers, City of Zion Economic Development) came to me to be a House captain in 2000. Cheri (Ditzig, Township Supervisor) was on my first crew,” he reminisces. Now, he heads the local chapter. When asked why he chose now to become involved in local government, Trustee Flammini said, “Zion is on the verge of turning a corner. I want to be a part of that."
