Construction Of A Deck Or Patio

Fill out application for permit, (available at the Building Department, City Hall.)
A plat of survey of your property is to be submitted, indicating where on your
property the deck or patio is to be built. If no plat of survey is available, draw
a plat of your property with dimensions on the reverse side of the permit application.
Submit a drawing or sketch of the deck or patio with dimensional details
along with the completed application.
Guardrails are required for raised floor surface of more than 16 inches above grade and they shall not be less than 36 inches in height.
Required guardrails on open side of stairways, raised floor areas, balconies
and porches shall have intermediate rails or ornamental closures which do
not allow passage of an object 4 inches or more in diameter.

A plat of survey of your property is to be submitted, indicating where
on your lot the garage is to be located.
Detached garages must be located behind the house.
Setback is 3 feet off side property line and 5 feet off rear property line,
except that there must be an 18 feet setback for vehicle entrance.
No structure is permitted in any easement.
A drawing of the proposed construction is required.
The plat of survey must show the location of the gas line, a garage slab
may not be poured over the gas line.
A detached garage must be at least 6 feet from the house.
Maximum height is 15 feet from slab to ridge.
Upon or before completion of the garage, the driveway shall be paved with
asphalt or concrete and shall conform to Engineering standards.

Electric power to the garage must be installed underground.
The permit fee for construction of a detached garage is 15 cents per square
foot x 1_ percent.
The permit fee for construction of an attached garage is 20 cents per square
foot x 1_ percent.

A shed must be located in the rear or side yard and must be a minimum
of 6 feet from the house.
A setback of 3 feet off the side property lines and 5 feet off the rear property line must be observed.
All sheds must be anchored to a 4 inch concrete slab.
A drawing of the proposed construction is required.
When buying a kit or preconstructed shed, the manufacturers drawing or instructions will be sufficient.
Maximum height of a shed is 15 feet from concrete slab to ridge.
Permit fee is 1% of construction cost, minimum $30.00.
