I hope you find this website informational and helpful.
I am the Director of Building and Zoning and I strive to make the buck stop here.
I ask that all my staff do the same thing. We are here to serve the residents of
The Beautiful City of Zion. If you are directed to a different department by my staff or me, please don't think you are getting "The government shuffle", it is because we think you will be better served by communicating with people who deal with your situation on a regular basis.
I have been with Zion for fifteen years in the building department and I think we are as service minded as any city or village.
Our areas of responsibility are building construction inspections, remodeling inspections, plan reviews, codes enforcement, property maintenance issues.
We are keepers of the zoning ordinance, sign ordinance and are responsible for staying on top of junk, inoperable and abandoned vehicles. If you are planning
a garage/rummage/yard sale, it is our office that you must register with. If you
are planning or thinking about a remodeling project for your home, we should
be on your list of people to talk to. We can offer information about contractors
and materials and methods of building that you will find very helpful.
