Larry Pannell 's Bio
Larry R. Pannell joined
the Accounts and Finance Department April 2005
as Assistant Finance Director. In August of that
year, he was appointed by the
Mayor and confirmed
by the City Council to serve as the Director of
Finance.
Experience plays an important role
in the way he responds to the department
staff,
other Department Heads, the Mayor and Commissioners,
and especially,
the customers who depend on the
department to serve their needs. Larry has considerable
experience in Federal, Local, and Not-for-Profit
work.
He was employed by the Internal Revenue Service as a Research Analyst, and has served two terms as a City Councilman in his
home state of Texas. Most recently,
he was involved in the Finance Department
for a non-profit association in Chicago with responsibilities for payroll,
accounts payable, budgeting, and Human Resources. Prior to that, he worked
for the Village of Mundelein in the Finance Department.
Larry has also benefited from his
long experience in the retail and transportation
industries where customer service continues to
be crucial to business success.
He has broad experience
orchestrating retail store turnarounds in Texas
and Colorado. During Operation Desertstorm, he
solved managerial, logistical, and staffing difficulties
for a large mail-contracting corporation involving
hundreds of employees and equipment moving from coast to coast in a 24/7 operation.
He is a graduate
of the University of Wisconsin-Parkside where he
earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration
with a concentration in Accounting. His family
includes wife Claudia, daughter Jennifer and her
husband John who live
in the Dallas/Ft. Worth Texas
area along with their three children, Austin, Cody,
and Jena.
