Zion is celebrating the Grand Opening of three new businesses this week. We hope our area residents and visitors will stop in and discover what they have to offer to our growing shopping and dining opportunities.
My Sister’s Cottage located at 3452 Sheridan is the long time ambition of Karen Bennett and Cindy Dawson who just happen to be… you guessed it… sisters! The charming boutique offers an eclectic mix of shabby chic and cottage home furnishings and décor that will add just the perfect touch to your porch or office. Candles, pillows, pictures, vintage ‘country’ accessories blend beautifully with Adirondack chairs, tables, hutches and more. The website will be up and running soon but for now just stop in Tuesday through Friday from 10:00 – 7:00 or Saturday from 10:00 – 5:00. Look for My Sister’s Cottage at local events including the Farmer’s Market in downtown Zion. For more information give Cindy or Karen a call at (224) 610-0766

Right next door is another lovely shopping option with VIOLET - Creaciones y Novedades. A well stocked boutique as well, the owner Cecelia Beccerra and her mother Maria will make sure you have everything for that upcoming confirmation or quinciera celebration. Clothing, jewelry, gifts, balloons and party goods at very reasonable prices. And just to make sure the young men are able to join in those lovely parties, VIOLET will also carry tuxedos. A website will be available very shortly but in the meantime please stop by Monday – Friday 11:00 – 7:00 and Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 – 4:00. They are closed on Thursdays. Feel free to give Cecelia or Maria a call at (847) 275-7292.

Now that your home is decorated and you have that new dress you might want to consider having lunch or dinner at Hussey’s Grill located at 3077 Sheridan Road. The motto is ‘Simple Food Done Well” and owner Mike Hussey delivers on that promise. From fabulous burgers, salads, sandwiches and sides to ribs and daily specials you will not leave hungry. The portions are large, the prices very competitive and the atmosphere unique enough to keep you coming back with your friends. Hussey is open everyday for lunch and dinner and offers a Sunday breakfast bar that brings in folks from around the county. For more information stop in and meet Mike or give him a call at 847-878-4120.
All of these businesses are part of the Zion business family. We welcome them and invite you to patronize and support their faith in our community. Zion is the place to ‘bee’ and we’re very glad these owners agree!
