The 2008 Bee-Prentice challenge is well underway with more than two dozen participants competing for summer jobs and a $5,000 college scholarship.

The program is a workforce development project that partners the City of Zion, Zion Benton Township High School and our local businesses.

Open to Z-BTHS juniors on track for graduation, the program involves several workshops that develop business and personal life skills to help them win the career they want rather than settling for a job they can find.

One of the more exciting assignments is to create a marketing project. This year the challenge was to write and produce a movie that tells what is means to be a Zee-Bee.

The students were divided into three teams and given only two weeks to develop a story line, create props, costumes, etc. They were then partnered with professional film crews and given three hours to finalize their movie.

The results of their efforts are posted at www.beeprentice.com and we need your help!
Each team must market their film to a variety of audiences in order to gain the most number of
votes for their film.

The team to solicit the highest number will win this particular challenge. Please go to the website, view the three films and cast you vote for the one you
feel best met the challenge of sharing what it means to be a Zee-Bee.

The program is in its third year, graduating more
than fifty students. It would not ‘bee’ possible without the support of our local businesses.
