2011 Already??

Download 2010 Calendar (.pdf)

By now homeowners should have received their 2010 City of Zion Calendar entitled ‘Everything Begins With A Dream…”.  The project began as a way to keep residents informed of upcoming events and programs.  To capture all of the opportunities to be involved in the community the template is shared with the Library, Park District, Zion Township, District 6 Elementary, ZBTHS and the city.

The 2010 theme was of course baseball since the Lake County Fielders have decided to make Zion their new home.  The site has been graded to construction elevations and final engineering drawings are in review by various state and local agencies.  It will be a very aggressive construction process, but it’s been four years of planning and the developer is as anxious as we are to see the new stadium coming out of the ground this spring

Just like baseball, Market Square or even our Super Wal-mart that everyone said would never come, projects begin with a dream and can take years to realize.  The same is true with our community calendar.  We’re already starting to discuss ideas for 2011 and we’d like to invite your help.

If you have photos or a theme you feel would be appropriate for a family-rated community calendar please forward to the Office of Economic Development at www.delainer@zion.il.us.  If your photo is selected you will be credited for your contribution.  If you are a business owner and would like to be one of our sponsoring advertisers you are welcome to join our project as well.  The majority of funding for the calendar is provided by local businesses and we work directly with the graphic arts team at the Zion-Benton and Kenosha News offices to make sure your message reaches over 10,000 households.

What will the community focus ‘bee’ in 2011?  Perhaps it will feature development, tourism, job creation, history, natural beauty, sports or maybe even music?  Help us decide by contacting our office with ideas or suggestions that you feel can capture our hometown in pictures.

A year can go by so quickly so keep your calendar handy.  You won’t want to miss upcoming events and programs like the King of Hearts Dance or Nostalgia Days.  And, if that isn’t enough to get your heart racing….there are coupons inside!

Make 2010 your best year ever and discover why we say, “Zion…a great place to ‘bee”.
