ZION'S BEE- PRENTICE PROGRAM

Who will ‘Bee’ the next Bee-Prentice?

Ready for a “Bee” Movie??

The 2007 Bee-Prentice Challenge is underway and we need your help!  Twenty-four Z-BTHS Juniors are competing for a $5000 college scholarship and to win they must complete four ‘boot camp’ workshops over several months.  Workshop Two is called, “Ready, Set…Action” and requires the candidates to work in four teams to create, write, perform and produce a sixty second television commercial.

This year’s ‘client’ was the Zion Market Days and Farmer’s market mascot, Reggie Veggie.  Each team spent several hours working together to develop what they believe is the best vehicle to get the word out about all the events and variety available at the summer market that runs every Thursday from June through October in downtown Zion.

The four commercials were filmed and edited courtesy of Pilar Networks and will appear as part of the popular Camera One program on Channel 19.  We’ve also added them to the front page of the city website www.cityofzion.com and you will be the judge!  View their commercials and the vote online for your favorite production and let us know here at City Hall which team you believe has the best message for the event.

We are looking for creativity, humor, solid delivery of information and overall effectiveness.  Each of the candidates is working diligently to make the most of this opportunity.  The Bee-Prentice Challenge requires dedication, hard work and integrity, serious assets that will serve these students well in the years ahead as our future workforce.  We know you see thousands of commercials every year, but please take the time to check out their efforts at  www.cityofzion.com.  Let these young men and women know we appreciate the work and time they are giving to this project and to becoming the 2007 Bee-Prentice Champion.

This project is only one of a variety of challenges they will face in this competition, but your input could make the difference for one of these deserving teens.  Visit www.cityofzion.com and ‘Bee” part of the solution!
